Who wins council care contracts, and for how much?
Who won the council's last care contracts, how many providers were appointed, and what were they worth?
Awarded tenders show who the council already trusts: the winners named on each award, how many providers share a framework, the value the notice gave, and how often the same names win. Use it to decide whether a bid is worth the effort, to find partners, and to check a target company's council income in due diligence.
When people use it: Before deciding whether to bid, when sizing up a competitor, and in due diligence on a provider.

Ask the data in plain English
An example question with an answer worked from Orrery's data (October 2026). In the platform, Ask Orrery answers questions like this from the same data and shows its sources.
107 providers were appointed to Kent County Council's Older Persons Residential and Nursing Care Services contract, awarded on 22 September 2026.
Who won
- National groups: Bupa Care Homes, Sanctuary Care, Care UK Community Partnerships and Avante Care and Support, through several of their companies.
- Charities: Royal British Legion and Covenant Mission Care, among others.
- Local homes: most of the list is single homes and small Kent groups, each trading as its own company.
What it was worth: the award notice gives no value. The tender before it, Older Persons Residential Care, Nursing Care and Respite Care (closed November 2025), was estimated at £173m.
What it means: this is a framework. Being appointed lets a home take council placements at the agreed rates; it does not guarantee residents. With 107 providers on it, winning is about being chosen for placements: quality ratings, vacancies and price matter more than the bid.

More questions you can ask
- “Which providers have won the most council home care contracts in England in the last two years, and what were they worth?”
- “Build a two page report on who wins adult care contracts in Kent: awarded tenders, winners, values and dates, with a table.”
- Many awards are frameworks: being appointed is a licence to receive placements, not guaranteed work. Some councils publish one award per care package, which shows true volumes.
- Award notices name companies as the council recorded them; one group can appear under several company names.
